We have now produced a delightful collection of Armillaries some of which are reproduced from famous, ancient Armillaries still in existence. We have also sculptured and designed some of our own in what has become a new and unique collection. Whilst we know that time stands still for no man, what better way to "mark it" than by having your own ornamental Armillary proudly displayed in your own beloved garden.

Pompeii Verdigris Armillary

Add an exotic touch to your garden with this Pompeii Verdigris Armillary.
This Armillary features a verdigris coloured half circle crossed by a horizontal half circle. This horizontal band has polished brass Roman numerals lining the interior.
The arrow runs vertically through the piece, and when pointed its shadow indicates the time on the band.
A verdigris coloured base has Directional Notations. A Small amount of assembly is required.

Hemispherian Armillary Wrought Iron Square plinth Design

Part Number: HS041

This is one of two new and captivating Armillaries, that have been aged using our latest “ rust” metal finish. A lovely square plinth design, with fluted neck that is simply styled and one that has been specially weighted so that it resists falling over when the weather is windy, although for optimum care of your armillary and for obvious security benefits, we would always recommend permanent securing of your armillary to a stone table or Column.

We have found that an ordinary all weather mastic is fine. We also recommend a light oiling every season..

Although the Vintage look is now very popular, with the emphasis on allowing the ironwork to rust naturally.

We have then chosen to mount the armillary on its own handsome brass column. Here at Black Country Metal Works, this is our personal favourite, It is more exspensive than other options we offer. It’s visually impacting and it is an example of our great craftmanship.

The main band is engraved showing the Roman numerals, the brass rings are Notched and patterned to include all the time lines.

There has never been anyone buying this Armillary, that hasn’t been totally delighted!

Serpent armillary sundial - Small

This is an armillary that certainly belongs in a garden or terrace of discernable quality. It is the biggest and heaviest armillary that we have ever created, and is quite awe inspiring to see.

It features the neck and head of a serpent about to strike its prey, which curves at the top of the armillary, whilst the arrow which passes through the middle of the armillary has a very finely detailed head and flight.

Ornate decoration and classic roman numerals complete the design.

The Zenith Bright Chrome Armillary is one of our latest additions to what has become one of the world’s finest collections of Armillaries and Time pieces.
Finished in stunning bright polished chrome the Zenith is a contemporary piece with clean lines, and a very up to the minute dial that is suitable for any garden or terrace, conservatory or patio.
The translation of the inscription around the dial means "Time is but a shadow" The flat base of this armillary depicts the powerful Celtic Pentangle.
We have produced only one hundred pieces and these will be the only production we do of this design. Each piece will come with setting up instructions and a personal referral to the Sundial Society, which is a membership of enthusiasts that offer help, historical information and support.

This is our lovely, chunky Arrow Armillary, which we have chosen to produce in warm mellow polished and lacquered brass. This particular design comes without a neck and almost squats on its own integral base. Being a neat 7 inches tall, it sits beautifully on our larger plinths, or inside the home, it would stand on a table or dresser, or even a bookcase. It is also a lovely size to send as a memorable Gift. The solid time dial, depicts roman numerals.
This armillary is made of solid brass finished with a clear polished lacquer.

Millennium Globe Armillary

This is one of our tallest Armillaries, created to be a real statement of style, both in size and design. Complete with a very handsome integral stand the inspiration was to provide a lasting centre piece for the garden, with a reference to the millennium and gods creation in tandem with Mother Nature.
Standing at over 6 ft tall, the Millennium Globe Armillary is made from graceful loops of steel fitted together to form the splendid globe. We then styled and cast a column from bright bold aluminium. We finally cast the arrow and flight from solid brass. The frivolous combination of these three metals and finishes is very striking and poignant. The result is a fascinating and very original piece of landscape artwork.
To date this remains one of our masterpieces, of which we are extremely proud.
