Moreton Park in Chirk Wrexham, one of the biggest Garden Centres in Shropshire saw the unveiling of it’s brand new ‘store within a store’ on Monday 24th July and garden centre owner Robert Butler was there with Black Country Metalworks MD Clive Knowles to do the ribbon cutting honors.

The concept of the ‘store within a store’ is simple, Black Country Metalworks build a complete hardware store within the confines of a garden centre including a large range of products and their respective merchandisers. (see image). For Moreton Park this was commissioned by Robert Butler and took just three days and four men to complete. This is one in a series of flagship ‘stores’, offering the chance for a limited number of garden centres across the country to partner BCMW in a joint venture. Black Country Metalworks, who’s range includes door plaques, plant labels, name plates, walking sticks, ceramic gift items, swivel sticks and a whole host more, are looking at specific types of customer for this. ‘This represents a big commitment on both sides ‘ says MD for BCMW Clive Knowles, ‘we are not looking at every store in the country, we are looking for flagship stores across the regions. We have already covered 2 areas and so we estimate needing only a further 6’.

Their unique selling point to stockists is the merchandising stands that hold the products, these stands fit together and form the ‘store within a store’, a complete hardware section in a matter of days, fitted easily within the garden centre by the suppliers.

BCMW are convinced that this is the way to go, being able to supply and fit these across the country will means all regions having one very high profile dedicated area for the product, but the key to it working is the investment from BCMW by their guarantee to replace any items that are not selling well with others immediately. The customer must make the decision which size he needs and then it’s down to BCM to supply it, wall units, free standing sections, 360° stands for smaller items, all put together to create a new interior, in the case of Moreton Park measuring a full 7meters x 4meters and incorporating 34 stands, if you include the smaller presentation stands then it’s almost 40, a mammoth undertaking but a great success.

For Moreton Park this increases the presentation and attraction of it’s already famous garden centre and for Black Country Metalworks it shows how a great partnership with commitment on both sides can really benefit the industry as a whole.
