Weathervane Design.Weathervanes, a combination of design flare, manufacturing skill and the use of highest quality materials and craftsmanship. This is our receipt for the perfect weathervane! All our weathervanes have been designed by our in house sculptors and pattern makers, they have spent decades refining and redesigning our weathervanes, to create the largest range of high quality wind vanes in the UK. Our weathervain collection originally started with our traditional rooster or cockerel weathervanes. Traditionally when people think of weathervanes this is the image which springs to mind. Over the years we've added various other weathervane designs to our range in order to provide something more personalised. We then designed our sailboat weathervane, our cat and mouse weathervane and even one with a game season theme! Recently due to popular demand we've also added a cherub weathervane to our collection. Our cute cupid is sure to fire its arrows in which ever way the wind blows! Our weathervanes are not to be confused with the cheap steel silhouette weathervanes, which offer no detail!

Weathervanes by definitionBy definition a weathervane is a "mechanical device attached to an elevated structure which rotates freely to show the direction of the wind". However over the ages weather it has been a wet finger in the wind or mounting a flag, the wind direction has always held a lasting importance to us. Weathervanes date back to as early as 47BC although not as we know them now they have always been used to great effect. Over the centuries weathervanes have evolved and the designs used have become more decorative, almost like pieces of Art. An example is the famous weathervane at Lords Cricket ground or even the weathervane which was mounted to Dover Castle to help sailors navigate the wind. Whether decorative or purely functional weathervanes have a unique and vast history! If you would like any more information on any of our wind vanes or weathervanes please see our weathervanes section or call our sales department directly. |
