This stylish teapot is styled on the traditional Japanese dragonfly teapot. The dragonfly is symbolic in Japanese warfare, as the ancient name for dragonfly in Japanese was "kachimushi". In the Japensese Ancient language, "Kachimushi" means victory insect. The teapot is made from cast iron and finished in navy blue. This product has been designed to age naturally and develop its own patina over time. For authenticity, this product is supplied unlacquered and has, instead, been expertly hand waxed. This wax serves as a basic protective layer against moisture however, if exposed to the outdoor elements for prolonged periods of time, this item will develop a surface rust. If required, the wax layer can be removed using a light oil such as WD40 with a fine-grade wire wool and then re-finished with a metal-based paint.
