Single and Double Skin Chimneys

• Single skin chimneys may work better for narrowboats with a shorter flue pipe or those with the ability to insulate the inside of the chimney.
• Double skin chimneys help to protect the beautiful paintwork of your cabin from being ruined by residue from the flue pipe.
• The extra skin provides insulation for tar excess, ensuring it is warm enough to drip back down the flue pipe instead of down the sides of the cabin.

To further protect the paintwork. Ensure that the flue pipe doesn’t rise too high inside the chimney; this can counteract the second skin or insulation.
