In the Making: Bow Brackets
Our bow brackets are entirely unique to us, with each piece carefully hand-crafted by our inhouse blacksmiths in the forge and workshop. Pictured below is one of our bow brackets part-completed in the forge. To create this design, we have used 25mm diameter tubular iron which is shaped by applying pressure using a large hydraulic pipe bender. Each section of the bow bracket is shaped individually and is completely unique to each design. Whilst this can affect the blacksmith’s ability to create perfectly matching arms, any differences are generally unnoticeable and add to the general charm of the piece. Following the creation of the frame, each arm is fitted with hand-shaped scrolls, crafted at the blacksmith’s anvil.
Once the brackets are tested and completed, they are then sent to the paint shop for cleaning and powder coating. Each bracket is individually finished in a sleek midnight black, which beautifully complements the finishes of the supplied lantern. Once installed, these lanterns add a beautiful sense of timeless grandeur and style to any door or entryway.
