Door Handles Frequently Asked Questions

Within our door handles collection, we feature a varied range of designs to suit all style tastes and preferences. From traditional iron pieces to more modern chrome and brass finishes, our collection really does offer something for everyone. Picking out the right handles for your home can be a bit of hard task, especially when you’re shopping for a range of different door types! We have attempted to take the difficulty out of finding the perfect handles by grouping and naming each design style but, if you’re still struggling to find the right handle type for you, here’s some extra advice to help you along the way.

What is the difference between sprung and unsprung handles?

Sprung handles feature their own spring mechanism which allows the handle and the corresponding latch to return to their original positions once the door is opened. Unsprung handles will not return to their original position unless manually moved or fitted to a latch/lock mechanism with its own spring. Most modern door handles are supplied sprung, but we do still offer a range of unsprung handles if that is something you would prefer. Please see individual product descriptions for more information.

We supply a range of different door handle types for a variety of different uses. To help better wrap your head around all the different types and how they would generally be used within a property, here’s a handy guide. Of course, within this mini guide we are only providing general guidance for your door handle placement and it’s completely up to you where you choose to fit them.

How do I care for my door handles?

Door handles placed indoors will typically require very little maintenance however, the maintenance required will be dependent on the kind of material that the item is made from. As a general rule, we advise using warm soapy water and a soft cloth to clean your handles. We do not recommend using any abrasive household cleaners as these may cause damage to any external lacquers. For more specific care advice, please read our Care & Maintenance Guide.
