Safari Sculptures in the Making
Our Greystoke Gorilla sculpture can be seen here receiving some special treatment in the works from Mervyn. The Gorilla was being treated to a custom purple paint finish ahead of his journey to the Strand Palace Hotel in London, where he will be featuring as one of the main attractions in their new Jungle theme lobby.
Mervyn is our paint works guru and is always on hand to help transform our creations with bespoke finishes and courful details. The rest of our gorilla family can be found around our outdoor show area, all of whom have been given a vibrant finish of their own.
Shown here is one of our resident "keepers" Sarah Lancaster, giving some much needed TLC to a large Jukali African Girrafe sculpture. This particular sculpture was of significant age when it arrived at our works and so before heading out onto to display we gave the Giraffe a full light sanding, followed by 3 coats of Yacht varnish to protect the metal from the elements.
