HOW TO INSTALL STAIR RODS (HINGED & UNHINGED)
Fitting your stair rods can be a relatively straightforward process but, should you have any concerns, please do seek the assistance of a qualified contractor/tradesperson. The width of each step may vary slightly, especially with older properties, so we recommend measuring each one before cutting the entire batch of stair rods to a single size
1. Starting at the bottom of the staircase, place a bracket either side of the carpet runner. We suggesting placing the brackets ¾ -1 inch away from the runner, but this can be adjusted depending on personal preference.
2. Fix the bracket in place using the top screw. Please note, this fitting will be concealed when using hinged brackets.
3. When using unhinged brackets, the rod must be in place when fixing the brackets into position. Once in position, the bottom screw can be applied.
4. When using hinged brackets you can fix the brackets in place and then position the stair rod in the centre of the openings.
5. Once happy with the alignment, taking care to leave an equal amount of rod and finial at either end, close the hinged section ensuring the rubber non-slip pads are in position
6. Lock the bracket closed using either a pan head or a release screw.
7. Continue this process for each step.
FITTING STAIR RODS OVER CARPET:
1. Once your carpet is fitted, locate the centre of the staircase steps.
2. Place a stair rod over the centre, starting at the bottom step.
3. With the stair rod in place, position a bracket at either end at an equal distance from the final.
4. Screw the brackets into the back of the step. Replicate the position of the brackets for the remaining steps.
Please note, when installing over the carpet, using the correct diameter of the rod is especially important to ensure the bracket and rod is not lost within the carpet pile.
