Have you ever been puzzled by the different parts of a lamp post and lantern? If you answered yes, then do not worry, we have created this handy terminology guide, so you can understand each aspect and part of your lamp post and lantern.

Information Guide- Parts of a Lamp Post & Lantern

1. Reflector Plate

Specifically designed to sit within the roof of the lantern, this reflects light downwards ensuring maximum light projection to the desired area.


2. The Lantern

Each of our lanterns have been crafted from high quality robust steel and finished in a variety of finishes to complement your style and exterior design.  Pictured above is the gothic lantern gothic lantern (LF1080/BLK) on the 2.3m lamp post in a midnight black finish. This lantern features gothic embellishments throughout the lantern top and four corner finials and a tiered top finial for added character and charm.


3. Perspex Lantern Panels

All lantern tops are supplied with Perspex instead of glass, as it is more sustainable, less prone to damages during transport and is overall stronger.


4. Built in Bulb Holder

Each of our lanterns and lamp post sets come supplied with an integrated brass bulb holder and channel. These can be easily wired by any electrician or tradesperson.  Each lantern features a bayonet fitting (B22) but can be swapped to an Edison Screw (E27) upon request. 5. Frog Collar

This is the part which fixes the lantern to the central lamp post.  Crafted from high quality steel with four metal legs and a bracket it makes for easy installation and removal.


6. Ladder Bars

Originally designed on Victorian lamp posts, so lamp lighters could rest and support their ladder on as he climbed to illuminate and extinguish the light. Now added as a nod to this history and for decorative purposes, these ladder bars have been created from cast iron.


7. Steel Lamp Post

Created from 0.25” thick steel and rolled into shape, this central lamp post has been pre-treated and powder coated in a midnight black finish. Each of our lamp posts are supplied unwired but do feature a ready to use wiring channel within the post which can be wired by any professional tradesperson or electrician.


8. Cast Iron Base

Crafted from high quality cast iron and finished in a sleek black finish, this base features a rectangular opening allowing for a junction box to be installed by a qualified tradesperson or electrician. Complete with embossed filigree detailing throughout, it adds character and charm to any of the lamp post sets.


9. Fixing Plate
