British Ironworks In Full Bloom

As recent winners of the chronicle business awards, the British Ironwork centre, are really living up to there “community champions award”.

The Derwen college, recent recipients of a rather magnificent metal rhino, are now working on a number of projects set to raise money towards stunning, and larger than life garden flowers, and ceramic heart hooks, donated by BIC, have been transformed by the college’s art students using bright colours, in their own unique designs.

The students, who have taken an interest in decorating these items, have been invited along to the ironwork centre, to see craftsmen in action.

Clive Knowles Said: “This Community spirit is growing stronger each week, the more we all discuss our aims and ambitions, It has been a joy to see the students so enthusiastic and creative in getting involved in this project. When we were approached by Derwen college, we didn’t have to think twice.

Barbara Cooksey said: “Creative Arts students are used to working on a wide variety of projects but they’ve never painted giant gerberas before! They really let their imagination loose when choosing their combinations of colours.”
