Grand in size and traditional in design, this lantern is the perfect replacement for restoring an existing Victorian lamp post, where the original lantern is beyond restoration and repair.

The lantern features a universal fitting, 80mm internal diameter frog collar.  Most original cast iron street lights have a 3-inch or 76mm spigot, making our 80mm collar a perfect fit. The stainless steel fixings allow attachment to sizes from 75mm, although smaller sizes can be catered for with a simple grub screw modification, available upon request.

Occasionally collar sizes may increase up to 110mm, for these instances a specially modified frog collar can be made by our blacksmiths.

The frog collar features a cabling stem in the centre, which your electrician will use to pass the electrical cable into the lantern for connecting to the fitted brass bulb holder.  The frog collar attaches to the copper lantern body with four cast brass ornate nuts.  

In order to keep relative proportionality with regards to the lamp post and the lantern, we recommend that this luminaire is used on posts taller than 2.5metres (8ft).

Copper ages naturally over time. The surface of the copper, if left unprotected, will oxidise and a marbled layer of Verdigris patina will appear over time. To preserve the polished finish, we recommend regularly applying a lacquer or varnish.
