Influenced By Instagram- Jo Loach @renovatinghouse_no.9

We sat down with Midlands based, beautician Jo Loach and asked her the hard-hitting questions about her life, day to day activities and more importantly, her interior décor style.

HOW DID YOUR INSTAGRAM STORY/JOURNEY START?

We bought our home 3 years ago and did a lot of work ourselves in the evenings and weekends. We decided to create an account to post our renovations, so we could look back at how far we had come.

WHAT'S YOUR BACKGROUND/JOB?

I am a wife and mum of two little monkeys. I've had my own beauty business for 17 years now. I love my job almost as much as I love faffing with my house.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR HOME/ GARDEN/ DESIGN STYLE?

I LOVE mixing old with new. Adding lots of colours with a touch of industrial vibes. I also love to scout out an antique statement piece.

WHAT HAS BEEN THE MOST CHALLENGING MOMENT IN YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA JOURNEY SO FAR?

I feel I keep quite a level head with social media. I take a lot with a pinch of salt; you have to remember that the grass isn't always greener, and pictures are NEVER as perfect as they seem.  I do have little breaks from social media every now and then if I start to feel lost. I can then press the reset button and get my enthusiasm back.

HOW DO YOU STAY MOTIVATED TO POST DAILY?

I don't post daily. Sometimes I can go a week or two between posts. However, I do feel that posting on 'stories' lets people know that I am still present and here!

WHY DID YOU WANT TO COLLABORATE WITH BCMW?

This question is easy! You have such a huge range of gorgeous, high-quality products... plus a cracking team to communicate with!

IF YOU COULD CHANGE ONE THING ABOUT SOCIAL MEDIA, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

I follow some gorgeous home accounts, but Instagram only ever shows me about 30% of who I follow, which can often be very frustrating!

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO NOVICE DIYERS?

Go with what you like and not what is in fashion! That way you won't get bored. I am on my third house and still use some of the same furniture and ornaments from the first house.

DESCRIBE A TYPICAL DAY IN THE WEEK.

Working for myself means I can be very flexible. It allows me to be able to pick up and drop off the kids at school.  I generally work 9am - 3pm and some weekends. After school there are swimming clubs, dancing, netball... you name it. It is very full on, but I wouldn't have it any other way. I truly believe you should have a good work-life balance.

WHAT ARE YOUR THREE FAVOURITE DIY TOOLS?

A drill, a sander, and a paint brush!

WHAT ARE YOUR TIPS FOR INSTAGRAM SUCCESS?

Be interactive with your followers, that is the only way you are going to grow.
